How to get from Prague airport to city center

Prague airport (Václav Havel’s Airport) is the country’s most important. It’s named in honor of the man who was both the last president of Czechoslovakia and the first of the Czech Republic.

It has 3 terminals. Terminal 1 is for flights to/from outside the Schengen Area and for intercontinental ones. Terminal 2 is for flights to/from inside the Schengen Area. Terminal 3 is for private aviation. The airport is about 15 kilometers from the city center and is well-connected by public transport.




Following is a detailed explanation on how to use public transport to reach Prague’s city center from the airport.

How to reach Prague’s city center from the airport using public transport

  • Bus 119 + metro A: The bus departs from terminals 1 or 2 and ends its route at the metro station Nádraží Veleslavín, where you can transfer to metro line A to reach the city center.
  • Bus 100 + metro B: The bus departs from terminals 1 or 2 and ends its route at the metro station Zličín, where you can transfer to metro line B to reach the city center.
  • Airport Express Bus: A direct non-stop service lasting about 40 minutes departing from Terminal 1 to the city’s main train station (Hlavní nádraží), where you can transfer to metro’s line C.
  • Bus 910 (night service): If you arrive to Prague after midnight, the above options won’t be in operation. However, you can take bus 910 from Terminal 1 or 2. It has various stops, including Divoká Šárka and I.P. Pavlova, where you can transfer to nigh tram 51 if it’s necessary.

Public Transport Tickets

If you are traveling from Prague airport to the city center using public transport, the fare must be at least 32 CZK. You can buy it at the transport counters in the airport terminals and/or in the automated machines next to the bus stop. The fare for the AE (Airport Express) service costs 60 CZK (30CZK for children 15 years of age or younger). This fare is bought directly inside the bus.
